Capture with the Chrome extension
The Demo My Product Chrome extension captures the tab you are looking at and adds it to a demo as a new step. It saves you from taking screenshots and uploading them one by one.
Install and connect
- Install the extension in Chrome and pin it to the toolbar.
- Click the toolbar icon, then choose Connect to Demo My Product.
- A Demo My Product tab opens. Sign in if you are asked to, then choose Approve. You will see "Connected" and can close the tab.
Each browser connects on its own, so repeat this on every browser you want to capture from.
Capture a tab
- Open the page you want to capture.
- Click the extension icon and pick a demo from the list. To start a fresh one, choose New demo, type a title and create it.
- Choose Capture this tab. The popup shows "Step 3 added" (with the real step number) and a thumbnail. Open in editor takes you to the demo.
The extension remembers the demo you picked, so it is still selected next time you open the popup.
Use the keyboard shortcut
Press Alt+Shift+S on any page to capture it into the last demo you used, without opening the popup. The toolbar icon shows a badge that counts the steps you have added since you last opened the popup. A "!" means the capture failed. Point at the icon to read why. For example, the demo you were capturing into may have been deleted.
To change the shortcut, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome.
Pages Chrome does not allow
Chrome blocks extensions from capturing its internal pages (anything that starts with chrome://) and the Chrome Web Store. On those pages the popup tells you Chrome does not allow capturing them.
If your plan has lapsed
Capturing needs an active plan or trial. When your subscription has ended, the popup says so, links to your billing settings and turns Capture this tab off. See Billing.
Disconnect a browser
Open Settings, then Chrome extension and Manage connections. Each connected browser is listed with the date it connected and when it was last used. Choose Disconnect next to a browser to cut off its access. The extension then asks that browser to connect again. This page still works if your plan has lapsed, so you can disconnect a lost laptop at any time.
