Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Demo My Product collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. Demo My Product is operated by Eastside Marketing Pty Ltd (ABN 17 698 174 542), an Australian business ("we", "us"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and, for people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR.
Questions or requests: hello@demomyproduct.com.
1. Who this policy covers
- Customers: people who create a Demo My Product account to build demos.
- Viewers: people who watch a demo that a customer has shared or embedded.
- Visitors: people who browse demomyproduct.com.
When a customer collects viewers' details through a demo's lead form, the customer decides what happens to those details, and we process them on the customer's behalf (see section 6).
2. What we collect
From customers
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Content you upload: screenshots, logos, demo titles, step text, hotspots and settings.
- Billing details: your plan, its status and your billing history. Card details are collected and held by Stripe, not by us.
- The Chrome extension's connection: a token that lets the extension upload screenshots to your account, and when it was last used.
From viewers
- How a demo is used: which steps were viewed, which hotspots were clicked, the site that linked to the demo and the browser's user agent. A random viewer ID is kept in your browser's local storage so that repeat views are not counted twice.
- Lead details, only if you fill in a demo's lead form: the name, email address and company you enter.
- If a demo is password protected, a cookie records that you have unlocked it.
From everyone
- Your IP address, held for up to one day to limit abusive traffic such as repeated sign-in attempts.
- A session cookie when you sign in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the service: run your account, store and publish your demos, and show you their analytics. (Legal basis under the GDPR: performance of our contract with you.)
- To bill you, through Stripe. (Contract.)
- To send you service emails: verifying your address, resetting your password and notices about your plan. We do not send marketing emails without your consent. (Contract.)
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse. (Our legitimate interests.)
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping tax records. (Legal obligation.)
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We use these providers to run Demo My Product. Each receives only what it needs:
- Hostinger: hosts our servers, database and file storage, and our support mailbox.
- Stripe: processes payments and holds card details.
- Resend: sends our service emails.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and content: while your account is active. If your plan ends, your published demos keep working for 30 days, then your account is locked, with everything kept, for 12 months. After 12 months locked, your account and everything in it are deleted permanently.
- Deleted demos: removed permanently 30 days after you delete them.
- Viewer analytics: 18 months.
- Leads: until the customer deletes them, or the customer's account is deleted.
- IP addresses for rate limiting: one day.
- Chrome extension tokens: revoked after 180 days without use, and deleted 30 days after revocation.
- Backups: daily database backups are kept for 30 days.
- Billing records: kept by Stripe and by us for as long as tax law requires.
6. Leads collected by customers
When a viewer fills in a demo's lead form, the customer who owns the demo controls that information and is responsible for how they use it, including telling viewers what they will do with it. We store it for the customer and show it only to them. Viewers who want their details corrected or removed should contact the customer, or contact us and we will pass the request on.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@demomyproduct.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK you can also object to or restrict some processing, and ask for your data in a portable format.
Customers can delete demos at any time, and can ask us to update or delete their account.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Connections to Demo My Product are encrypted, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
9. Children
Demo My Product is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, email customers before the change takes effect.
